Jamaal Catch-Up #5 Mushi Shi / Vivy Fluorite Eye’s Song

Jamaal gacha game/gotcha roulette keeps spinning as he chooses two wildcards that he caught up with to surprise Jack and Edwin: Mushi-Shi and Vivy: Flourite Eye's Song.  Mushi-Shi happens to be Jack's all-time favorite anime so Jamaal did his homework!  We give a short and sweet review and synopsis on this surreal show that tackles themes on Japanese folklore to the main character's quest to overcome his curse and search for meaning.  The 2nd show is Vivy!  Edwin's top favorite Sci-Fi show of 2021.  After our review of Vivy last year, we revisit back on this grand show that even caught Jamaal by surprise with it's high stakes adventures and sheer emotion from its central characters.  A chill session indeed so if you are curious on the shows, listen in and then go watch them as soon as you can!

Vivy : Flourite Eye’s Song / The Fan Special Part 2

Part 2 of our 2021 Fan Special features Vivy : Flourite Eye's Song.  When evil AI destroys humanity in the future, a doctor sends his time saving device named Matsumoto to go back a 100 years and interact with the only hope for humanity: Vivy, an autonomous android singing idol.  What starts off as a time hoping sci-fi adventure slowly becomes a show about choices and finding the answers to the questions that enlightens our existence.  Edwin and Jack redive into this super awesome show and it's many highlights from the complexities of the sassy robot Matsumoto to Vivy's reluctance in being a hero while she tries to make everyone happy with her singing.  A truly special episode!

The 86 / Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Short Review / The Fan Special Part 1

Our 2021 Fan Special includes two well regarded shows that took us a while to finally catch up with: Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song and the "86." Part 1 focuses on the "Eighty Six," a show where you expect high energy mech battles but later on shifts focus more into a psychological battle with war and the consequences of loss. Edwin and Jack discuss the many themes this show packs in from its modern day discussion of drone warfare to veteran/refugee politics.  A surprisingly engaging review!We also have a short and sweet review of the movie Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Best of 2021 Part 2

Part 2 of our best of 2021!  This section we mention the elite of the elite shows for the year 2021.  We focus on the shows that didn't make our top 10 but represent their genre or changed anime for the better!  Shows like Vivy: Fluroite Eye's Song, Ranking of Kings, The Heike Story, and Horimiya!  Then for the final portion of the show Jack and Edwin give their personal top 10 shows of the  year.  Shows like Komi Can't Communicate, My Senpai is Annoying, Mierko-chan, Mushkou Tensei Jobless Reincarnation, The Faraway Paladin, some season 2 gems and our personal top favorites that reflect on what we think the standard of anime should be. Best of 2021 Part 1

A special re-release of our Best of 2021 just in time before the 2023 Crunchroll Awards!  Definitely worth it if you are still catching up with anime this past decade! 2021 is the debut of our podcast and indeed it was a special year for anime and manga.  Jack and Edwin share their top favorites of 2021, there were so many favorites that we had to divide the special into 2 parts.  Part I includes the following categories:
Best Voice Performance, Best Voice Ensemble, Best Music Score, Best Opening, Best Closing, Best Art Direction, Best Manga, Most Overlooked Manga, Best Boy, Best Girl, Best Main Character and Best Supporting Character.

Winter 2023 Preview / Fall 2022 Review

Just in time for the middle of winter: our 2023 Winter anime preview!! For being such a stacked season we didn't even talk about our most anticipated shows, however we do talk about a few shows under the radar like Onimai: I'm Now Your Sister!, Tomo-chan is a Girl! Technoroid: Overmind, Sugar Apple Fairy Tale, and The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady.  Along with our official Fall 2022 Review with the Edwin's Isekai Roundup with Beast Tamer (Fantasy), I'm the Villainess, So I'm Taming The Final Boss, The Eminence in Shadow and Reincarnated as a Sword. 
Then Jack will highlight his Slice of Life Vending Machine Corner with Raven Consort of the Inner Palace, Bocchi the Rock!, and More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers.  It's a premier before we reveal our Best of 2022 so check these shows out if you are  still catching up with 2022! 

More Bashing on Useless/Tasteless/Clueless Netflix Cowboy Bebop

Part 2 of our Cowboy Bebop Live Action Netflix thrash and bash and mash. We could've ranted more, especially when we found out that Netflix cancelled the show almost 2 weeks after it's debut!! Tune in to this great session with Jack, Edwin and Jamaal as we further dissect Netflix's agendas, our plea to stop the upcoming One Piece live action, and the future of Hollywood's stance on anime. I think it's time we blow this scene......

Cowboy Bebop The Good....The Bad & Ugly Netflix Adaptation Part 1

Originally Aired December 2022.  Cowboy Bebop: The Standard anime.....Netflix Cowboy Bebop: The Not Standard show. We talk highest of the highs with the original series and how we adore it ever so much. And yes, we had to confront the elephant in the room version that Netflix debuted. Jamaal, Edwin and Jack cover the high ground with our favorite Bebop characters and episodes, and then the low ground with the most evident flaws of the live action version. This is part one of our bashing of the Live Action version....so there'll be more ammo and bombs in part 2!

Ms. Marvel / She Hulk /Disney Plus Catch-Up Part II

Here's another After Hours discussion where we go beyond  anime and geek out over general pop culture as the 950 club review two Marvel productions: Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.  Both shows are unique in the sense that the creativity is geared towards female viewers but also a break from the mold of Marvel productions.  Jamaal and Edwin debate over Ms. Marvel's intentions as well as bring out the surface of the show's charm.  While the review of She-Hulk becomes a very engaging debate with many topics like representing feminism in modern television, clashing with troupes, and if She-Hulk is well regarded compared to other Disney Plus shows.  We also sneak in our Top Favorite Disney Plus and of course bring out the chill chat vibes!
